Utah’s third district contains Orem and Provo, reaching from Salt Lake City to the southeast part of the state. This is incumbent John Curtis’s first standard election, after winning the special election to replace Jason Chaffetz in 2017. Prior to that, he served as Provo’s mayor. His challenger, James Singer, is the first Native American to run for Congress in Utah and is a sociology professor at Salt Lake Community College. The seat was previously held by Jason Chaffetz, who served as chairman of the House Oversight Committee.
