Wisconsin’s sixth district contains the northern outer suburbs of Madison and Milwaukee, and the cities of Oshkosh, and Fond du Lac. The District is 60.63% Urban and 39.37% Rural and its population is composed of 95.3% White, 2.3% Hispanic, 1.5% Asian, and 1% Black. In 2016, the District voted for Donald Trump with 55.7% of the vote and in 2012, the District supported Mitt Romney with 53.1% of the vote. The District has consistently voted for a Republican representative since 1966. The Republican incumbent, Glenn Grothman, who won with 57.2% of the vote in 2016, is running under a mainstream Republican platform. He has served the District since 2015, and is currently a member of the Budget Committee. He has publicly told people to treat the holiday Kwanzaa “with contempt.” He is running against Lawyer Dan Kohl. Kohl has represented major associations such as the MLB and the Children’s Hospital.
